DIY No Sew Pillow

I'm excited to share this post with you because it's my  First DIY tutorial...that I actually made. Yay. I'm in the process of coming up with a design for our bedroom and I wanted to make some pillows. So I received some nice sturdy pillows from my neighbor who was cleaning out her attic and I decided to dress them up. I didn't want to go through the hassle of sewing not to mention I don't have a sewing machine:)  So I came up with this quick, easy and affordable DIY No Sew pillow!
I know you might be thinking what does this have to do with wedding planning? I figured if you are going to have your ring bearer holding a pillow, why not have a fancy and cheap one? The best part is that you can  reuse it in your bedroom after the wedding.

Materials Needed:

1. Fabric: I used a curtain I got on sale at Target for less than $2.00.
2. Fabric for flowers: I trimmed out the excess from another project I had going on.
3. Pillow: Free
4. Safety Pins:
5. Rubberband: I used a hair tie
6. Hot glue gun
7. Scissors

Total for the No Sew Pillow Project: under $2.00
I already had the other materials not to mention the free pillow!

1. Get all your material..sorry I didn't take a picture of all the material but the list is above.

2. Cut the fabric with enough length to cover the pillow half way, length wise. Width wise cut about an extra inch or two. ( Sorry for the vague measurements, it would depend on the size of your pillow)

3. Cover half the pillow length wise.

4. Cover the other half length wise.

5. Fold one corner across the pillow diagonally.

6. Pinch the fabric one fold at a time.

7. This is what it should look like when are done with one side.

8. Tie all the folds together, leaving extra space for the other side.

9. Create the same folds on the other side and tie together.

10. This is what it should look like...you're almost done!

11. With the material for the flowers, cut the fabric into strips. Create your center by twisting the fabric and continuing to twist the fabric as you go. Twist and Turn.
Note: For a bigger flower twist loosely.
For a smaller flower twist tightly.

11. This is what it should look like.

12. Once you have your flowers you can start pinning them onto the fabric. Pin from underneath so the pin is not exposed.

13. One down, two more to go...you are done!

Looks complicated but its super easy. Give it a try and let me know how it turned out.

So what do you think of my First DIY tutorial?

Look for Less: Laced Halter Top Wedding Dress

Ever considered a laced halter topped wedding dress? If so, be inspired by the different styles of halter dresses available. I have chosen from a line, to ball gown, to mermaid, to short style halter wedding dresses. Must admit I love the uniqueness of this design but would not know the comfort of lace wrapped around your neck throughout your wedding ceremony and reception. I would definitely try this style dress at a bridal shop first. Let me know what you think. Has anyone tried on any of these dresses? Or love any of these dresses?

Look for Less: Knife and Server Set

Quick question...Can you tell the difference between the two beach themed knife and server set? Other than having more blue on one knife set than the other, can you really tell which one if the more expensive one? The answer, the only difference is price. Here is a Look for Less: Knife and Server Set along with an alternative, that makes the set even cheaper.

Look for Less: Jim Hjelm Spring Collection

Inspired by giving you the Look you want on a Budget you can afford, I couldn't wait to share with you a beautiful dress that is part of Jim Hjelm 2012 Spring Collection(JH8211). This beautiful laced dress features an open back with a crystal bridal belt that pulls this whole dress together. I absolutely am in love. According, to another bridal website this dress is retailed at $3500.00...What! If you are saying I love this dress but not enough to spend a huge portion of my budget on it...think again. I have found a dress that looks very similar to this one without that hefty price. Or choose to buy the same dress for a fraction of the price...let say $245.25. Now there is a catch. I have heard and done some research on this site but I can't guarantee the quality nor promptness of your dress. So I would recommend you do some research before you buy. Please let me know if anyone has order from this company before, your help is greatly appreciate.

Look for Less: Ribbon Wands

Visited my fellow blogger friend, Our Weddings on Pennies,  who is on her journey to frugally planning her wedding on a budget...that's my kind of bride:) She is going to be having these awesome ribbon wands at her wedding and I thought I'd share this idea with some other budget conscious brides. Besides who wants rice in their hair? Are you planning to cook some rice on your honeymoon? The best part of these ribbon wands is that the kids will have a blast playing with them.

Below is a picture of an actual wedding using ribbon wands to give you some motivation and inspiration. The possibilities are endless. If you have too many guests and are not up for the challenge or if the price for that much ribbon is too much, consider using strips of tissue paper.

Love this combination. The best part which is so ingenius and frugal, is that this was made using a twig. So go out on a nature walk with your soon to be hubby and make these ribbon wands happen:)  By choosing this route you are saving a couple bucks, perhaps enough to be able to add some embellishments on the wands or to grab a bit to eat after your nature walk.
