Affordable Candy Table: Where to buy Apothecary Jars

Since I've been doing a couple Candy Tables lately I have been looking for deals, especially those expensive apothecary jars!!! Some tips to creating an Affordable Candy Table, if you are using these jars;

1. Look first on Craigslist. You can even post an ad stated you are looking for some apothecary jars.
2. Look in your local Goodwill or Consignment stores.
3.. Join a local yard sale group (preferably one that's wedding related)on Facebook. Once joined you can post an ISO (In Search Of) letting those in the group know that you are in search of apothecary jars.
4. Use those 50% off coupons at craft stores like Michaels, A.C Moore, JoAnn fabrics and Hobby  Lobby. I found out about a year ago that each store takes the competitors' coupon and can also price match. Call ahead or just ask:)
5. Search different websites. My favorite is I never really ordered from them but they have soooo many things, especially for weddings. Saw this great deal on a Set of 3 Apothecary Jars.

Apothecary Jars (Set of 3) Glass 10-3/8" - 8" - 7-1/2" $19.99
Apothecary Jars (Set of 3) Glass 10-3/8" - 8" - 7-1/2"

6.Lastly look online. I saw some prices on Amazon on a couple vases. I have chosen different styles and sizes. All for under $90.00!!!

Disclosure: I have only made recommendations but have not tested or bought any of these items. Please read the comments before making any purchases, usually they help:)
I love to share budget ideas. If you have any to share please tell me about them. Any deals on apothecary jars, you've seen lately?

Baby Shower: Mom to Bee theme

I just recently had the opportunity to make a Candy Table for a friend's baby shower.
Such a cute theme: Mom to Bee. Sorry for the bad pictures, looked so much better in person. Must get a better camera! Backdrop was made from cardstock and tissue paper. Boxes were covered with paper from the Dollar Store and decorated with black and white polka dot ribbon. Floral topiary was made from handmade crepe paper flowers. Plastic container in the middle were from the Dollar Store. Chocolate dripped from the marshmallows as though it were honey. Dollar Store cookies were dipped in chocolate to incorporate color. Loved the bee hive made of munchkins and cookies:) It was a hit or should I say a buzz:)

Have you done a Candy Table recently on a budget?

Affordable Candy Table

I know it has been a while...but I just had to post a recent Candy Table that I decorated for my sister's wedding. I thought I would show how a Candy/Dessert Table can be accomplished on a cheap budget. Here are some tips on achieving an affordable candy table.

* Use items that already come in the color of your wedding. For example, if using white consider buying powdered doughnuts, tasty cakes, wafers, candy wrapped in white, and/or buy white chocolate to cover pretzels, make truffles, make chocolate covered strawberries, etc.

* If using silver, consider buying chocolates and wrapping them in aluminum foil. Or buy candy already wrapped in silver, like Andes mints, Hershey Kisses, 3 Musketeers, York peppermint patties, etc.

* If using brown, consider making most of the table using milk chocolates, like whoppers, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. Unwrapped some chocolates and display them on the table and perhaps wrapped them in nice cardstock paper,  to reduce cost. Use decorative paper that reflect the colors of your wedding to add more color to the table. Customize more of the table by using paper and other items, as personalizing the candy will increase your budget.

* Check the Dollar store.  Recently I've seen colored coordinated wafer straws...awesome at just a $1.
As pictured below, the blue and white wafer straws were from the Dollar store.

* Check farmer's markets, Big Lots, Ollie's, Dollar tree, Party City and other stores for colored candy before you go overboard ordering online.

* As pictured below, cover sturdy boxes to add dimension and character to you candy table. Or recycle your glass jars and decorate them to store some candy.

Valentine's Day Wedding Theme Color Palette

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, some of you might be celebrating a Valentine's Day Wedding Theme or possibly getting engaged. I have chosen some color palettes to give you a head start on choosing you wedding colors. I was able to accomplish this using a wonderful tool provided by Sherwin Williams called Chipit. I had introduced this tool before in a previous post labeled, Awesome D.I.Y. Tools. I thought it would be neat to highlight it once again...and perhaps many more times for other color palette ideas since I think its such an awesome tool.

Valentine's Theme Wedding: Finds through Etsy

Thought it would be nice to post a couple of Valentine inspired wedding accessories that I have came across through Etsy. I love this site. It's amazing the things people come up with. Hope you like my quick selection.

Any favorites or least favorites? I thought the hand holding the heart was a little creepy but interesting. But my favorite is the ring bearer's pillow with the little flowers shaped into a heart. I know it's simple but it's cute.
