Valentine's Day Wedding Theme Color Palette

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, some of you might be celebrating a Valentine's Day Wedding Theme or possibly getting engaged. I have chosen some color palettes to give you a head start on choosing you wedding colors. I was able to accomplish this using a wonderful tool provided by Sherwin Williams called Chipit. I had introduced this tool before in a previous post labeled, Awesome D.I.Y. Tools. I thought it would be neat to highlight it once again...and perhaps many more times for other color palette ideas since I think its such an awesome tool.

Cinco de Mayo Wedding Theme

Cinco de Mayo is a couple days away and I thought I would share a festive wedding theme. Ever considered a Cinco de Mayo Wedding Theme? If you are like me and saw nothing but bright colors, sombreros, panchos, etc, at the sound of this theme, think again. I definitely was thinking this way and while there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted to seek something that would say Cinco de Mayo theme in a classy way with lighter colors. I would like to call this a desert mirage in pastels...maybe too dramatic.

Love these centerpieces. Not sure if they used dried pinto beans to fill the bottom of these vases but if they did that is cleaver. If they didn't then I'm clever for thinking about this...just kidding. Gives it an illusion of being in the desert.

DIY Mexican Banners or the proper name for them Papel Picado (Perforated Paper).  These are pretty neat. I made simple ones for a sister's get together and hung them from one corner to the next in the kitchen.  If you prefer a classier version use square doilies or wide laced fabric like the one demonstrated after the color palette picture. Feel free to comment.

If you are not feeling crafty check out some selections through Amazon.

                                                              White Mexican Wedding Banner $17.50

                                                                       64 Beautiful Succulents $68.00

These will make great favors for your guests. Another option would be to grow them yourself. I've never experimented with these so I would do some research first before trying to grow them. They look so pretty.  Buy Succulent seeds.

Simple but Elegant All White Centerpieces
Here is a selection of small wedding centerpieces that seem affordable. You can use them to alternate with other centerpieces or as you main centerpieces to save money. Flowers can be very expensive so make carnations your main flower and highlight them with the flower of your choice to save even more money.

All White Vases

DIY Wedding Projects for the DIY bride

Can't afford those beautiful vases from Etsy priced at $350...don't dismay.  Be inspired by you recylcing bin.  Below are some inspirations to help you create your Wedding Look for Less.  Grab some of your recycled wine bottles, beer bottle or any bottle with a nice shape along with some spray paint to create these affordable recycled wedding centerpieces.  Add candles, branches or even single stem flowers to add to the look.  So easy a DIY bride can do it:)

I love the mini cakes as centerpieces, especially since it's something that you can make yourself to save money.  Good option if your venue charges for cake cutting, this way there is no cake cutting nor cake cutting fees.  Still can't believe some venues charge for this.

Fall weddings: Getting the Look for Less

Here's a real fall wedding reception to give you an idea on how you can get the Look for LessRemember the key to saving money is not to terminate but to alternate.  Sometimes having a lighter or darker shade of color, a taller or smaller vase, or even a bigger or smaller table, could make a huge difference on your budget.  Every penny counts:)

Here is your break down for creating your fall wedding look for less:

1.  Vase                20”   6 piece      $66.00       ($11.00 each)
                        24”   6 piece      $84.00       ($14.00 each)
                        32”   6 piece    $126.00       ($21.00 each)

2.  Overlay         Ivory overlay       $6.99      (original: $9.99)
                       Yellow overlay     $6.99      (original: $10.99)
                       Mint overlay        $3.99      (original: $7.49)
Orange overlay    $6.99      (ranges from $4.49 to $6.99)

Note: All of these, except for the orange overlay,
are cleareance prices, so availability may be  limited.
Other overlays available to buy.  Depending on how
many you need, the price per overlay is reduced.

Other Fall Wedding Ideas: If going for the route of the Less, consider combining a light color with a darker color to still give it your fall wedding look. For example, if you choose to go with the mint overlay,  don't choose the multiple color leaves instead choose the leaves to be solid brown (spray paint or shop around nature)  and add tiny mint green flowers along with perhaps sage flowers on the tree branches.

3. Leaves         200 count            $10.99       (.05 per leaf)
                    2000 count          $49.99       (.02 per leaf)

Tips: Cheaper if you shop around nature: Free!

4. Napkins       1- 500 count        ($.75   -    $.51 each)

Tip: If the overlay tableclothes don't fit your budget,
consider adding color to your table  with these cloth napkins.

5.  Tree branches  FREE

Note: Find the overlays and the napkins  by scrolling down to external websites and clicking on CVlinens.

Fall weddings on a budget: Part 1 Using Tree Branches for Centerpieces

When planning a fall wedding on a budget, consider your surroundings. So to all you do it yourself brides, put on your walking shoes and go for a walk…be inspired by nature. Here are some DIY fall wedding ideas:

Centerpieces

Tree branches

1. Collect some tree branches. Spray paint them (optional).

2. Go to the Dollar store and pick some small flowers that come in a bunch.

3. Glue the flowers to the branches.

4. Place the branches in a glass vase with the same color stones of your flowers.

5. Optional: Place a 12X12 cardstock paper underneath the vase. (They have really neat paper at AC Moore and Michael’s with different colorful patterns).

The following pictures are Do It Yourself centerpieces, using tree branches. In the first picture section I have selected wedding centerpiece ideas that virtually can cost you less than $5 dollars each.  If you have some rope laying around, you can wrap it around the tree branches numerous times to give it a rustic look. Then add some leaves or flowers from around the yard and you have yourself free wedding centerpieces.

The 2nd picture section might require a bit more work and a couple more bucks, but even at that they can be affordable wedding centerpieces.  For example, the oh so pretty pink wedding tree centerpiece can be adjusted to your taste and budget. The base can be replaced with a square vase from the dollar store.  Glue some cardstock to the vase rusing Mod Podge (works as a glue and acrylic) then add some ribbon.  Instead of the pricey roses, use silk flowers, tissue paper flowers or  mulch to cover the surface.
